“I love exploring, making new friends, and making forts.” -5 year old student
“I really appreciate the democratic system in the school. During my youth I struggled with authority telling me what to say and not letting me have my own voice. Now I get to help teach kids how to have a voice without the use of authority but with the help of community.” -staff member
“I really like that students can teach themselves and have free will.” -13 year old student

Sego Lily School is a private school where children ages 4-18 are free to pursue their individual interests while participating as responsible members of our democratic school community. Following our philosophy “Learning Through Living”, the school values all activities equally, and strives to create a community in which all people are honored for their unique gifts. Sego Lily School is modeled after the Sudbury Valley School in Framingham, Massachusetts, now celebrating their 40th anniversary.
Sego Lily School is now enrolling students for the 2009-2010 school year, and we have started an enrollment list for the 2010-2011 year!. We are open Monday - Friday from 7:30am-5:30pm. To visit, please call (801)274-9555 or send an email to info@segolilyschool.org - we welcome visitors during normal school hours, and summer or after-hour visits can be arranged by appointment.
“It is in fact nothing short of a miracle that the modern methods of instruction have not yet entirely strangled the holy curiosity of inquiry; for this delicate little plant, aside from stimulation, stands mainly in need of freedom; without this it goes to wreck and ruin without fail. It is a very grave mistake to think that the enjoyment of seeing and searching can be promoted by means of coercion and a sense of duty”
Albert Einstein
