Archive for October, 2008
There have been many activities blossoming already this year…
Some of them are: sugar crystal science project with Hunter, painting and drawing in the arts and crafts room, reading and playing games in the Front Room, skateboarding and bike riding at the park, trip to the museum, car maintenance class, computer gaming with all ages, studying math, and discussing Rock n’ Roll, politics, and economics. Of course we shouldn’t leave out building forts, haunted houses, and role playing activities in the foam room! Its been pretty fun here, in my opinion. I get excited for Halloween coming up too! Students and Staff dress up, games are played, and the school turns into a haunted house. Are you excited yet? I know Sego Lily School is!

As you probably are aware, we are currently interviewing for our open staff member positions. We talked to many great candidates, and have narrowed our search down to four. They will be attending School Meeting next week (Tuesday, October 14 at 1:00pm) to be interviewed by the SM. Parents are invited to attend - this is a rare occasion for you to have a chance to speak at a School Meeting! Come meet the candidates and ask questions. After interviews, we will deliberate ad choose two candidates to receive provisional contracts for a three-month trial period. While parents do not have a vote in School Meeting issues, we will take your votes into consideration at this meeting. Please let a staff member know if you will be attending!

Good day, Kyle here. Friday afternoon I experienced a definite segolilymoment. I was out back raking leaves. I looked up and 8 kids ages 6-12 had filtered out. Next time I looked up they were all lined up with small pieces of paper in their little paws. Turns out they were “interviewing” for jobs in the parking lot. The Head Manager, Shalom, and her Assistant, Keona, set up a staff of hot wheelers, bikers, scooter riders, the “wild taxi driver” and I personally got hired as “dribbling basketball guy.” For the next 45 minutes a flurry of vehicles whizzed around the parking lot. If one of us broke a traffic rule we “brought it to management” and the law breaker was “fired” momentarily or reprimanded… Another great segolilymoment!
