Seeds Of Love
I’m excited to share the Seeds of Love fundraiser with the Sego Lily Community!
I’ve been inspired by many friends who want to support Sego Lily School in our monumental effort to build Utah’s first Net-Zero Energy school. We have the opportunity to exemplify that Green Schools are not just better for the earth, they are better for our children and better for the economy. Can you imagine what kind of an impact that can have on green building in Utah?
So here’s the idea for a fundraiser that can rely on grassroots support from Utah’s green community:
Seeds of Love

Students and community vendors will sell seed packets for $2 each. $1 helps to build the new solar-powered Sego Lily School, $1 helps to build a solar-powered sister school in Haiti.
By supporting green schools locally and globally we are empowering students to “plant the seeds” for a sustainable global community.
Would you like to help? Here’s how you can get involved:
2. Will you or your business donate $20 to help buy seeds and supplies? Supporters will be featured on the Sustain Utah website and Seeds of Love Facebook page with links to the supporter’s website if applicable.
3. Would you like to help us sell seeds? We will be scheduling opportunities for students to sell seeds at local stores in January and February. Students will receive a raffle ticket for every 10 seed packets they sale and will have an opportunity to win prizes in February. We need parents to sit with students at the stores on seed sale days.
4. Help spread the word. “Like our facebook page - Seeds of Love”, hang up posters, tell your friends.
If you would like to get involved please contact Alyssa Kay (Darius’ mom) at 801-414-8032 or email at gorilladesign@gmail.com

As you probably are aware, we are currently interviewing for our open staff member positions. We talked to many great candidates, and have narrowed our search down to four. They will be attending School Meeting next week (Tuesday, October 14 at 1:00pm) to be interviewed by the SM. Parents are invited to attend - this is a rare occasion for you to have a chance to speak at a School Meeting! Come meet the candidates and ask questions. After interviews, we will deliberate ad choose two candidates to receive provisional contracts for a three-month trial period. While parents do not have a vote in School Meeting issues, we will take your votes into consideration at this meeting. Please let a staff member know if you will be attending!

Thank you to all parents, staff & volunteers who worked so hard to get things ready for the year.

During the month of July some of our staff were able to attend the SVS workshop in Boston MA. The workshop was like an intensive and valuable staff training session. We took lots of pictures and brought back much information. Looking forward to sharing this great information!

The end of year camping trip was a great success!
We were chauffeured to Antelope island by our amazing driver and staff Kyle. Students, staff, and parents sat by the fire and listened to stories, sang, and made music. The kids were so excited that they stayed up for many hours playing with glow sticks. Much thanks to Kyle, Gwen, and all the people who made our experience wonderful!
